Homemade, hot donuts are a treat. These are the easiest donuts I have ever made. Seriously. They taste like a pastry and are very addictive. Easy make for a morning you want something sweet and don’t feel like going out to buy donuts. Oh and guess what? They are made using biscuits! So easy.
What you need:
- A can of biscuits (I used a can of buttermilk Publix brand)
- 4 cups oil to fry them in (I used vegetable oil)
- 1 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Put the oil in the pan and set it on medium heat. Then in a bowl mix the sugar, vanilla, milk, and butter. This is your glaze.
Split up your biscuits and cut the center out of them. I used a cupcake hole puncher I bought at Bed, Bath, & Beyond. You can also use a small circle cookie cutter or a soda bottle cap.
Next you put the donuts in the pan to fry them. Do not leave them in for longer than 1 minute on each side. Once the turn golden, take them out. Put them on the cooling rack for a couple seconds right after, then put them in the glaze bowl and make sure they are good and covered. Then you can sprinkle more confectioner’s sugar on top or leave them without.
You can also fry the donut holes. Don’t waste any of your biscuits.
They turn out so yummy. Soft on the inside and gooey and crispy on the outside. These donuts have become one of my favorite recipes. Frying stuff is just too much fun. Especially when it’s easy.
