One day I got all excited because I saw this beautiful picture of hanging flowers:
I immediately wanted to do something similar in my room above my bed. I went to Michael’s with my mom and we bought a ton of fake flowers, they were on sale, and I thought I would be able to recreate that flower wonderland. Little did I know that it would take hours. So I only made one strand. Then the other day I went to Hobby Lobby and noticed that they have a WHOLE ISLE of flowers on strings. Let’s just say I was a little frustrated. So if you are like me and see something you like and immediately start to recreate it (without checking Hobby Lobby to see if they have some already made) then this is the DIY for you! The best part about making something yourself is that you can make it exactly how you want it. I made my hanging flower strand out of blue, green, and white flowers to match my room. I ended up hanging it on my floor mirror in my room and I can’t be happier with it.
What you need:
• Fake flowers
• String (any kind, preferably thin)
• Needle (I used this)
In order to put the flowers on the string you need to first pull the buds off of the stems. The buds come off pretty easily. I used some of the leaves as well. To get them on a string you need to thread the string through the needle as if you were sewing, and then thread it through the center of each flower bud. Repeat this until you have enough flowers on the thread to hang somewhere pretty. I chose to hang it on my floor mirror. I tied a loop hole on each side of the strand and just hung it on the edges of the mirror.
