So I happened to come across some glitter in my past trip to Michael’s and I think I’ve been going a little bit overboard with it since. I’ve been putting glitter on everything. It’s really simple to do too. You just have to be careful not to make a mess. Let’s just say I know have glitter all over my kitchen and my dogs. Whoops.
What you need:
- Martha Stewart Decoupage Glue
- Loose glitter (I used Martha Stewart glitter in silver)
- Paint brush
The first step is to tape off the part you want to put glitter on. I unfortunately didn’t have any painters tape and had to use scotch tape but it did the job. I taped off the bottom of the vase so that there would be a ring of glitter.
The next step is to use your sponge and dab the glue onto the vase. You can use a paint brush but the sponge works better to get an even coat.
Sprinkle the glitter on top of the glue and then shake off all of the excess.
After waiting an hour for the glitter to set, take the paint brush an paint a coat of the glue on top of the glitter. This will lock in the glitter. Don’t worry, the glitter will not come off.
After painting the coat of glue on top of the glitter, it will look like the picture above. You can remove the tape after this step. It will dry into a clear coat. Let the vase set for 28 days and then it will be able to go into the dish washer and all of the glitter will stick to the vase.
Now you are ready to glitterize everything! Get to it!
