Springtime is for pastels, skirts, and flowing dresses. So you thought. It’s also a time for overalls! Denim is a fabric fit for every season, in my opinion. That’s what makes it one of my favorite fabrics with close runner ups including linen, cotton, and lace. I loooove denim and it’s versatility.
Here in Florida it gets HOT. Last summer was scorching, you could barely be outside for 10 minutes. As the weather heats up, I like to wear overalls because they are breezy throughout. These ones in particular are perfect specifically because of the rips and holes. It lets even more air in to cool you down.
Wearing one or two pieces of jewelry with your overalls is a good way to accessorize in the spring. I like to keep it simple too because sometimes overalls can be a bit overwhelming. You could wear a few rings, a long necklace, or a pair of tassel earrings. For shoes, I like to keep it simple as well. Opt for a pair of sandals that aren’t too overwhelming like mine or a pair of wedges or mules. The same goes for bags. Carry a clutch or opt for a small backpack, that would be cute. By the way, I’m on the lookout for a decently priced small backpack! Preferebly a comfortable one. If you know of any, leave a comment down below!
Tips for wearing overalls in the Spring
- Wear a crop top underneath
- Get them distressed
- Unbutton a strap or two if it gets too hot
- Make sure they are a lightweight denim
- Accessorize with 1 or 2 pieces
- Keep it simple with shoes and bags
One last tip I have is for distressed denim in particular. Wash them once or twice to make the holes more frayed after buying. If they aren’t as distressed as you’d like, I have a tutorial for that. If you like my choice of outfit in the post, you can shop the exact same pieces below. Everything is pretty cheap too! And for size reference, I’m 5’3″ and got a size small in the overalls. They fit perfectly and are very comfy!
