Florida living calls for a lot of beach days. Some might say beach days are only as good as the blanket you bring. Well, I’ve never heard anyone say that but we can make that a thing starting now. There are key elements to blanket blankets that make them great for the beach. Comfort, size, and material. It needs to be comfortable enough to lay on for periods of time, depending on how long you plan to be at the beach. All day or an hour, it matters. The size should be big enough to host your whole body. I like a lot of room on my blankets in case Willie wants to join me or if I bring food and a big bag that I want to put on it. For material, it needs to be able to get rid of sand very easily. No one likes a beach blanket that clings to sand. It’s not fun to shake off at the beach and it’s not fun when you get home. Keep those three things in mind when choosing new beach blankets and you’ll be alright.
Or skip the hard part and listen to my recommendations…
60″ x 82″. I have this towel in a multi-color print (as seen in the photos below) and I am in love with it. It’s huge! Both Willie and I can fit on it so I just bring it to the beach with my umbrella and it makes for a quick setup. One thing that’s really cool about this towel is that it’s handmade in Guatemala. You can even see a photo of the exact person who made it! Ethical brands are so cool.
80″ x 80″. If the scalloped print didn’t make you fall in love, the fact that it rolls into a tote might! This extra large blanket gets a one-up on all the rest because of the fact that it’s easily portable. It has a waterproof backing and fleece top, making it soft to lay on. At $25, I would get two! There are smaller sizes available as well at $20 in different prints.
52″ x 72″. For this towel I threw all three elements out the window and focused on how cute the print is! You have the choice to get a matching pillow too, which is a necessity for the beach, I mean c’mon.
62″ x 76″. This towel is the prettiest color and has a sand resistant design. It’s a great size and has a great cause behind it. Sandcloud donates 10% of profits to organizations that save marine life. It’s important to shop with a cause, especially when it’s about the ocean.

60″ in diameter. This towel comes in different prints/sayings so you’re bound to find one you like. I have this blanket in a print that’s no longer available, but it says “Here Comes The Sun” and it makes me happy every time I read it. It’s a good size while also being super comfortable! PLUS it’s reversible. It has terry cloth on one side and a really soft fabric on the other, making it comfortable to lay on overtop the sand.
