New year, time to workout. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’m not one to make New Years Resolutions per say, but I do like to set goals for myself no matter the time of year. I’ve recently been focusing on my health and trying to be the best I can be. That means that exercise needs to take priority since all I usually get of it is walking my dogs (and not very long walks).
Helping to do that is having clothes that make you want to. Pretty activewear is a great motivator. You put it on and automatically want to go show it off and get active in it.
Guess who has some gorgeous styles? Old Navy! Old Navy for activewear? YES. Old Navy has been on top of their game and their activewear is super cute. Why spend a fortune on a pair when you can get the same look at Old Navy for a fraction of the price. I got my set that I’m wearing in these photos for under $30, isn’t that a steal?! The quality is spot on too.
This floral, polka dot, and mesh combo has me in love. But what makes me want to buy 10 more pairs of these leggings is the fit. It’s flattering in all the right ways and very comfortable. I sometimes find workout leggings to be too tight or itchy with certain fabrics like mesh. I could take a nap in this pair it’s so comfortable.
On Working Out
I read a book recently on mastering vitality and learning how to live a sustainable life. On the topic of exercise, it stated something I really like and never thought of. It said that you don’t have to workout according to a plan or go to the gym and do workouts that others are doing. You don’t have to make exercise a chore. The secret is to do an activity you love and enjoy. Do you like playing tennis? Do you like playing with your dog? Do you like riding a bike to the beach? Great, do one of those things and you won’t even notice that you’re working out.
If I don’t have time to get active or workout on a certain day, I always at least stretch. I do it everyday. I try to stretch in the morning right after I wake up and right before I go to sleep. My favorite stretches are a few yoga poses. Here are a few of my favorites.
On Staying Healthy
Being active is only a small part of being healthy. Eating good foods and drinking enough water is vital. What I’ve been doing is drinking enough water so that my pee is clear. You don’t have to keep count of how much you consume, just follow that guideline and you’ll be golden.
As for food, I’ve been adding in more “live” foods. Those are foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and sprouted grains all raw and uncooked. Foods in their natural state. I still eat the occasional Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme or an ice cream cone but I’m slowly straying away from those and feeling better and better.
