I was given this dresser chest last weekend since my Dad’s house no longed has room for it and as soon as I took it home my mind went crazy with ideas of how to paint it and what I could use it for. I absolutely love giving furniture makeovers and this one is one of my favorites that I’ve done so far. I love the lace detail on it and it fits my personality. It’s super easy to do this and it’s cheap.
What you need:
• About 5 cans of white spray paint
• 1 can of silver spray paint (scroll down to see a picture of the one I used)
• New knobs (I bought the cheapest ones from Home Depot)
• Lace (I cut up an old shirt that I had to use)
• Sand paper
• Wood filler (Depending on your dresser)
The fist thing you need to do is sand your dresser down. This roughs up the surface so that the paint can stick to it better. If the knobs that you had on the dresser before made 2 holes in each drawer then you need to fill them in with wood filler. The instructions on how to fill them in will be on the wood filler bottle. Since my new knobs only need a single hole I needed to fill the old holes in so there wouldn’t be 3 holes in each drawer when I only needed 1.
Spray the dresser and drawers with the white spray paint next. I used the cheapest white spray paint from Walmart, it was like 96 cents and I got around 5 bottles of it.
After the white paint dries, lay your lace down on top of the front of the drawers. I used the same piece of lace for all of my drawers. You don’t have to tape it down or anything, just start spraying over it with your silver spray paint. Then peel the lace up and off of the drawer. Do this to all of the drawers.
Put your knobs in with your drill and you’re done! Here’s a tip: if you got some of the silver paint on the edges of the drawer you can just take a small paint brush and some white acrylic paint and go over the edges. That’s what I did.
