Sweet summertime is finally here! Summer can get really hot here in Florida but it’s the perfect time to cool off at the beach or pool. My summers usually consist of relaxing in a hammock, drinking ice cold lemonade, and taking a trip somewhere with lots and lots of salt water. This year I am hoping to check out Siesta Key, I’ve heard it’s beautiful but I have not been yet. I love exploring new places. As for summer essentials, my list is pretty simple.
Shorts are all I want to wear in the summer. Well, shorts and dresses. But you can mix up a lot more outfits with a pair of shorts. I’m currently in love with Lilly Pulitzer’s Resort White Gillty printed shorts and I am in heaven. I LOVE anything scalloped and mermaid-y. They are next on my to-buy list.
My number one summer must-have is a swimsuit. I like to stock up in the winter when Victoria’s Secret has sales, you can get a pair of bottoms for less than $5 online. Along with getting them in the winter, I like to buy at least one new one in the summer. When your constantly going to the beach or pool it’s nice to have a couple different suits handy. This Acacia swimsuit is one I have been eyeing for a while now.
3. Deep Conditioner
My hair gets really dried out in the summer from going to the beach and pool. My favorite shampoos and conditioners right now are the OGX ones. They all smell so great and are really good for your hair. OGX has this Sea Mineral Moisture deep conditioner that will remind you of the beach long after you’re gone. It smells like the ocean and makes your hair soft as can be.
4. Tinted Moisturizer
When summertime hits, it can get hot and humid. I like to use a tinted moisturizer instead of a regular liquid foundation. This e.l.f one has aloe, cucumber, and vitamins A, C, & E. Along with being budget friendly, it has SPF 20 in it too.
Of course. Sunglasses are a must anytime of the year but especially summer. Recently, I’ve been trying Ditto’s Endless Eyewear and have been loving it. It’s this amazing thing where you can rent sunglasses for $19/month and swap them out however many times you want. So far I’ve gotten a pair of Ray-Ban aviators, Karen Walkers, and am about to get some Retro Super Futures. It has the same concept as Rocksbox, which is pretty cool.
6. Beach Bag
Beach bags keep all of your stuff together in one place while at the beach. They are a necessity for a beach day. I really like this yellow fish cutout bag, it’s perfect for the beach with the small fishes all over. I also like this beach bag with a burlap bottom to let the sand seep through from The Atlantic Ocean on Etsy.
7. Tanning Towelettes
I like to use sunscreen at the beach or pool to protect my fair skin. But since I want that glowing tan, I resort to fake tans that are not harmful to my skin. Recently I discovered Thermalab’s tanning towelettes, I got them at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion. They are clear wipes that you just rub all over your body. The tan goes on clear and develops in less than 4 hours. I applied one wipe then another on top of what I already applied. It actually worked and my skin now has a natural looking tan. You can build your tan with the towelettes without the messiness of a liquid tanning lotion and that’s what I love. I’ve tried lots of different tanning lotions and none of them compare to these towelettes. You can use them anywhere! You can really see the difference on my sister in the picture below. She just used one wipe on her wrist and this is how dark it turned out 4 hours later.
