I’ve been yearning for a new beach bag that can double as an everyday bag. I knew I wanted to incorporate rope and I have a crap ton of canvas drop cloth so I decided to combine the two. Plus, I wanted to make it nautical, typical. This beach bag that I’m about to show you how to make is just about the easiest bag you will EVER make. It literally can be made in just 10 minutes (plus the drying time). The supplies are inexpensive as well so it won’t break the bank. I also wanted to make this project appeal to all of you non-sewers so I chose to use my trusty Unique Stitch in place of a sewing machine. So let’s get busy (for a few minutes) and make a canvas beach bag!
Cut a piece of drop cloth 24″ wide by 32″ deep then fold it in half.
Fold the tops of the drop cloth over and glue then down along the edge, leaving enough room to put the tope through. Glue the vertical edges of each side together. Let the glue dry then flip it inside out (which will be right side out).
Cut the piece of rope in half and loop each piece through each of the top openings on the bag. Knot off each strap. I chose to place the knots on each edge of the bag and absolutely love how this canvas beach bag looks. It’s perfectly nautical and you can even paint the drop cloth!
