My favorite thing to wear to the beach? Cotton. Why? Because it’s breathable and lightweight. I made this cotton dress, which started its life off as a romper, but then I cut the crotch out and decided it needed to be a dress. I used the Show Me Your Mumu romper that I shared a bit back here on the blog as a pattern. That’s my new favorite thing to do when it comes to making clothes. I’ll buy something that I love the shape of and recreate it in the fabric of my choice. I had to modify this dress a bit in the front to make it fit me by adding a dart. I think it turned out great and looks gorgeous paired with a bralette. Let me know if you want the tutorial for this dress and I’ll share it here on the blog. In the meantime, you can shop my cotton dress picks under $50 below. (Plus three that are about $55 but whatever, close enough!)

This bralette reminds me of a butterfly. I think it makes the whole outfit have a wanderlust feel, especially paired with the moon and star necklace from Happiness Boutique. If you want my necklace, or anything over $23 from Happiness Boutique, use the code sweetteal to get 10% off until September 10th. I love this necklace and have been on the look for an affordable moon one and it’s perfect.
