I love jewelry but hate the prices. I really don’t even wear it that much either. Honestly, I’m the kind of person who never remembers to put jewelry on. So when it comes to buying new pieces, I rarely spend a lot of money on something because I know I might not wear it all the time. So I make my own.
Recently, I’ve come accross James Michelle Jewelry. It’s a jewelry company started by Jamie Israel, also known as James. She started it after being diagnosed with Lyme disease and going through some tough shit. Seriously, this woman is amazing and so inspiring. The jewelry is handmade with wistful and minimalist details. There are some pieces that are very affordable and some that are higher priced.
This DIY is inspired by the James Michelle Itty Bitty Star Necklace, which sells at $58.
My version costs $7.09.
Cut the chain in half, opposite the clasp, with pliers.
Using a C ring, hook to chain and star on. Do the same with the other C ring.
All done! Simple, right? And the best part is now you can make any necklace you want! I love finding cute charms and making my own necklace out of them. If you want to know my favorite places to get jewelry supplies (and charms) then be sure to sign up for my newsletter and you’ll get my list!
