The whole rave of the brush that also straightens has had me intrigued. I had my doubts and wondered why you would even need one if you already have a regular ole’ straightener and a regular ole’ brush. Well I’m here to clear up any doubts and confusions you may have about straightening brushes. I recently got my hands on the Straight Brush Pro from HerStyler to try it out. But first, let me tell you just exactly what this super brush is.
The ceramic surface of this brush has structured bristles that emit infrared heat. HerStyler curlers and straighteners are super affordable and have the cutest colors and prints. The Straight Brush Pro is only $34 and most of their items stay within that price range. I’ve always liked to buy cheaper hair tools because I feel like they work just as good, if not better than expensive ones. Saving money is always a good thing. The brush has multiple heat settings just like a straightener and actually brushes hair.
Opting for a straightening brush in lieu of a flat iron would be ideal if you are worried about burning yourself. I was worried that it would burn my scalp or back when brushing but it’s totally safe. Another thing I was worried about was if the brush would be able to get close enough to my scalp to straighten since the bristles are not bendy. I figured out that you can angle the brush a little sideways and lift your hair up and brush though it that way to get closer. It works.
One key benefit to this straightening brush is that it doesn’t tug or pull hair. It glided through my strands gently and I’m such a baby when it comes to pulling on my hair so no pain is a win for me. There is no breakage either, double plus!
The brush has heat settings that range from 285º-430ºF. I used it on the highest setting and you can tell it works in just one brush stroke. I started with pretty messy, wavy second day hair to put it to the test. When I straighten my second day hair with a flat iron it usually loses all it’s volume and falls very flat. I can only straighten freshly washed hair if I want it to retain volume. This brush not only straightened my hair but left volume! It didn’t make my hair look flat or too thin. I would definitely use this brush over a flat iron on second day hair, no questions asked. It solved my wanting-straight-hair-but-not-wanting-to-wash-today problem. This tool really is a neat product.
Just look at that before and after! Straightening brushes do, in fact, work!
I also tried HerStyler’s Heat Protective Straightening Cream and OH MY, it smells so good I want to wear it allllll the time. I think I found my new hair heat protector that I actually want to use and need to use. I’m pretty bad at remembering to use a heat protectant but I don’t think I’ll be forgetting now. It also helped to keep my hair shiny, smooth, and straight throughout the day.
I love a good two-in-one product and this brush + straightener is a great one. By brushing and straightening together, you save time! Everyone needs more time, right? I definitely do. I’m late for everything. Maybe this brush will change that.
