A beachy boho bedroom to compliment my boho tropical living room, what more could a girl want? My bedroom has been a long time coming and I can now say that I’m 100% happy with how it turned out. I love every single piece of decor and furniture. Some of it collected over time and others bought more recently. It is definitely a space I can be creative in and be productive. I have space to sew, space to edit and write, and space to relax.
Living in a small apartment means I don’t get a designated office space or even a dining room! See what I mean in my apartment tour video. I actually prefer having a smaller home because it means less stuff and less cleaning. Don’t get me wrong though, I’d love to have an office space. For now, I made the most of what I do have.
With having a small space, you need to incorporate things to add height. I hung plants and a clothing rack from the ceiling and also added things such as a (fake) fiddle leaf fig tree and floor length mirror. Vertical or tall pieces help to make the room appear larger, as do mirrors. If I could only choose one piece of decor for my bedroom, it would be a rug. When I first laid my shag rug down, it instantly made the room 10x better. It looked so much more put together and added a sense of comfort. This rug of my dreams is from Natural Area Rugs in 5’x8′. Natural Area Rugs is all about using renewable materials that come from plants. There is no eco-damaging manufacturing involved in the making of their carpets and rugs and I salute that. Natural rugs reduce allergens in the air, making them perfect for anyone with allergies (me). I prefer to buy from companies that care about sustainability and Natural Area Rugs is one of them. Plus, their rugs are priced affordably!
I wanted to keep the majority of my room minimal and clutter free. I hate having messy rooms, although it happens a lot. Everything in my bedroom has a use or is there for a reason and most things are up off the floor. I wanted to go even more minimalist is my bedroom I think for now it is enough.

When picking a desk, I had a few specifics in mind. I had to be easy on the eyes, simple but not too simple, and large enough. I checked off all of those with this beauty. I got the legs from IKEA and the cool thing about them is that they can be adjusted so you can take the desk from sitting to a standing position. It’s like two desks in one. I also like the fact that I can change out the top. I could make it glass, marble, or build one out of multiple pieces of wood. For now, I chose to go with one seamless piece of plywood. This desk is so large I have space for everything!
The reason I added a clothing rack was not because my closet is overflowing (although it almost is). I wanted a space to hang my new or favorite clothes but also the clothes I make. I love putting pretty garments on display because in my mind, it’s art. You really start to appreciate clothing more once you start making it and knowing what all goes into it.
P.S. get yourself a comfortable chair for your desk. It makes alllllll the difference, trust me. This is something you should splurge on!

I made the clothing rack by hanging a branch with clear fishing line and two hooks in the ceiling. Easy and looks beautiful. You can see a similar tutorial of mine using a branch here.
Plants have been a must in my house recently. They add so much to a room that it’s hard to overdo it. Definitely add plants whenever you can. No space? Hang ’em!
