My fake tanning routine is here! I’ve been fake tanning since high school, trying all sorts of things. I’ve tried Zoom Tan, both spray tans and tanning beds a few times (which I’m kicking myself for – don’t ever do tanning beds, they are SO bad!) I’ve tried Loving Tan, St.Tropez, Jergen’s and countless others. The main problem with all of the above are they all smell like fake tan, which is not that pleasant of a smell if you’ve never smelled it. Another problem is a lot of them turn you orange or leave you splotchy, both terrible things when fake tanning. One more thing I look for in a fake tanning is how well it is for acne prone skin, which I have. I pay attention to the ingredients and prefer more natural ones. Most fake tanners I have tried have made me break out.
While I love laying out in the sun, I only do it when at least SPF 30 nowadays. Skin damage is real and can lead to wrinkles, cancer, and a lot of other things that you can take preventative actions against. Therefore, if I want a tan my only option really is to use a tanning mousse. Also, I have super fair skin and burn very easily so a natural tan is pretty unlikely for me unless I’m out in the sun for many hours over a period of time.
After trying pretty much every fake tanner out there, I have finally found one that checks off all my boxes. Enter, The Shady Sun. It’s vegan, has naturally derived ingredients, and well just watch the video to find out more. Above is a before and after of my legs, taken right before tanning and the morning after. Both photos are unedited and I tried to get the lighting exactly the same so you could see the true results. Isn’t the color perfect?!
