Making your own swimwear?! Who would dare! Well, a lot of people do! It seems like a daunting task since swimwear is more tricky than clothes. You don’t want it to break while wearing or fall off because then you’re flashing everyone. Swimwear calls for certain materials and tools different than a simple top or skirt. It can be hard. Trust me, I know. I’ve made lots of bikinis that ended up trash or didn’t come out even remotely correct. To put it simply, sewing swimwear takes practice. To make it even harder, there are barely any tutorials out there on the web on how to make a bikini. I love seamless swimwear because it’s more comfortable and I’ve found, of course, that it’s even trickier to make.
So after trial and error, I’m starting to create swimwear that is actually wearable and I can’t stop wearing it! This DIY bikini top is my favorite piece that I’ve created so far and it’s perfect to tanning (with sunscreen). It’s minimal, comfortable, and has a classic style.
So without further ado, take a look at my tutorial and try and make this top yourself. I’d love to see your recreations if you do! I’ll be releasing more videos on how to make bikinis so stay tuned. Or if you have suggestions on what kinds of swimwear I should make next, drop a comment below. Oh, and those bottoms in the photos below, I made those too! That tutorial is coming next!
