While summer may be over in most parts of the country, summer tends to linger around much longer here in Florida. It’s normal to wear shorts and flip-flops almost year round and it’s what makes it such a desired retirement destination.
Sure, there are fall activities like pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and hayrides, but it’s hard to get into the spirit without that cool breeze blowing and temperatures cooling off. I know Florida isn’t the only place that doesn’t really get a season change this time of year so if you want to dress like it’s fall, then I have you covered. You can dress for fall with summer pieces to up your fall outfits game. Plus, you won’t need a whole new wardrobe. Saving money is always a great thing.
I do think you should buy a few key staples to add to your closet if you don’t already have them. Hear are my favorite staples. Be sure to scroll to the end of this post to see some fall outfits I’ve been wearing and get some ideas!

If sweater weather isn’t a thing yet, don’t worry. Get a knit sweater that’s breathable and wear it with shorts.
Cardigans can be worn with tons of different outfits and work well if you need some quick warmth.
Oh where do I start with booties?! They are shoes you can wear yearround and not have to worry about getting weird looks. They just so happen to be even more in style during autumn.
A pair of tall, knee-high boots are not only fashionable, but they keep your legs warm when you don’t feel like wearing pants. Have a super cute mini dress you want to wear but don’t want to wear tights OR freeze your butt off? Tall boots are your best friend.
A great scarf is awesome to have because they can double as headbands, head wraps, belts, and even blankets. Why wouldn’t you want to add a scarf to your fall wardrobe?
Another great way to transition from summer to fall is with jewelry. In specific, customized jewelry. I was gifted a necklace from oNecklace and I’m obsessed. The cool thing about oNecklace is you can get names, sayings, or dates put on your jewelry. I think a great way to come into fall is to get your favorite date from summer put on a piece of jewelry. It’s a reminder of a special summer day you had and you’ll be able to remember it always. Did you have a family vacation? Go on a fun trip? Get engaged? I did! I got the date we got engaged put on my necklace. How cool is that?
Here are a few outfits I’ve been wearing to transition from summer to fall outfits, using summer pieces like denim shorts. I love accessorizing with hats, it can really add to an outfit.
Once you have the staples, it’s easy to create fall outfits with using summer pieces. I love mixing shorts with sweaters and booties or wearing a tank top with a cardigan and skirt. You could wear a mini dress with knee-high boots like I mentioned, or wear a tank top with a scarf if it’s windy but still hot. That way you have a little something to keep you warm.
What fall outfits are you most looking forward to wearing this season? I’m looking forward to all the booties and sweaters! It’s hard to beat a cozy sweater.0
