When we moved into our new home, I knew I wanted to keep the room decorating ideas simple, bohemian, and definitely beachy. I’ve found that I love coastal mediterranean design a lot but with a tropical, boho mix.
My style has been pretty consistent in the apartments I’ve lived in and I want to keep up with it because I love it so much but I also want to be more sophisticated.
With every new place I live, my style evolves more and more into an organized, minimalist, adult. I’m 23 and still don’t feel like an adult, is that weird?
So with our home, we have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room, patio, and backyard to decorate.
I’ve almost completed the guest bathroom and you would know that if you follow me on Instagram.
The kitchen decor is chosen and just needs to be installed or finished. I’ll keep that room a secret for now!
As for the other rooms, here are some mood boards I put together. Let me know your thoughts! What do you like, what do you not like?
Room Decorating Ideas
Ah, the place of sweet dreams and comfort. I’ve had the bedroom design done for a while now, I just need to get the rug and baskets and hang the lamps and net. Will built me that bed frame for under $200! A tutorial will definitely be coming! I just need to stain or paint it first.
For the master bathroom, I’ve gone back and forth over if I want gold or brushed nickel hardware/accents. I had decided on brushed nickel and already got handles and a trash can but I have changed my mind! Gold is what I choose!
We have very low countertops in the bathrooms so we’re thinking a vessel sink would be perfect to add a bit of height and allow us to stand up straight while washing our hands, not hunched over like we do now.
I’m keeping the vanity, top, and mirror that are already in there, just updating.
Living Room Decorating Ideas
The room decorating ideas I’ve had for the living room have changed but I really love the simplicity of this mood board.
The room we spend the most time in is the living room. We love having company over and also love watching TV. While our living room isn’t gigantic, it’s a decent size. Our apartment-sized furniture is just a little small in the room. We’ve been wanting to get a big sectional instead but man, sectionals are expensive and the ones I want are all $3000, hah. I know it’s an investment and I’ve got to have a pet friendly one. We have lots of spills and accidents.
Dining Room Design
I want to keep it simple with my dining room decor. Minimal is key, right? We already have the table (that’s actually a photo I took of it) and all the plates. With new flatware, we decided on black matte. I wanted matte gold but Willie is against that. It’s all about compromise!
Bohemian Home Decor Office Design
I have an office! I can’t believe I finally have a space to dedicate all my crafting, sewing, blogging, and procrastination to! I hate to say this but I have not gotten any actual work done in my office yet and I believe that’s due to it not being decorated.
I imagined my office to have a minimalist design but I know that’s just not going to happen. I craft, therefore I need A LOT of storage. I also like being organized to the point where I know exactly where every little craft supply is when I need it.
Bohemian home decor is going to thrive in this space.
I’m thinking custom shelving on each side of the window and a rolling cart for supplies on the move!
A spot to relax is ideal in my office since I like to take a lot of breaks and cuddle with my pups. I’m thinking of moving my turquoise couch into this room. I’m just not ready to get rid of it yet.
So there are all of my mood boards and room decorating ideas for the new house!
My home might not turn out exactly like them to the “T” but I’m going to get it close.
Eventually we plan to do full renovations on the bathrooms. I’m talking complete demo and brand new tile, showers, tubs, vanities, and all that. Right now we have a “makeover” budget and that’s ok! Buying a home is a huge purchase and so is having a wedding the month after. Two of the biggest money suckers. Now for a baby!
