The Boon GRUB High Chair was very enticing to me when I first laid eyes on it. A high chair that you could put in the dishwasher? Sounds great! Even better is that it can be bar height, table height, or a toddler chair. It grows with your baby and it looks pretty sleek.

I tried this high chair out for 3 months and then decided to ultimately return it. You can watch my video to see why I returned it but I’m going to go over what I loved about the chair first.

What I Love About The Grub High Chair

  • Different heights (it can be bar height with the seat at 30″ tall, table height at 24″, or a toddler chair at 12.25″ tall.)
  • Easy to put baby in and take baby out. There’s no feet slots you have to struggle to get baby’s legs in.
  • Easy to clean (dishwasher-friendly)
  • Simple design (looks good in any decor)
  • Bib holder on back of chair
  • Tray is big and easy to put on and take off
  • Adjustable footrest (although I wish it were more adjustable)

So there we have it. All the things I love about the Boon GRUB High Chair. I love almost everything about it except for some key things, including baby’s posture when sitting in the chair. To see what I mean, watch my video review.

Final Thoughts & Why I’m Returning

Overall, I think the Grub High Chair is a great chair and might work better for you than it did for me. You just have to get it and see how your baby fits in it. I would have loved for this high chair to work for us but in the end, my baby didn’t fit correctly in it, she was always slouched. Her posturing was not ideal for eating and I was worried about higher risks of choking that come with that. So in the end, I returned it.

What I Bought Instead

After returning the Boon high chair, I went on a new search and found the Cybex Lemo Chair. I was leaning towards the Stokke Tripp Trapp when I came across the Cybex Lemo and fell in love with the Lemo. The Lemo chair can be used in conjunction with the Cybex Lemo Bouncer (which I got with my second baby and it’s so convenient). The chair comes with the high chair seat attachment and a tray and it is removable if you want to turn the chair into a regular chair for an adult. So it can be used from infant to adult. An investment that grows with your child. I actually bought two of these chairs when there was a sale since I knew I would have a second child. In the meantime I used the chair as my own desk chair and it has excellent lumbar support.

I bought it shortly after returning the Boon chair and my daughter is 3 now and uses her Cybex Lemo chair every day. So we’ve gotten a lot of use out of it so far. She grew out of the high chair attachment pretty quickly because she had chunky thighs but the switch to the regular chair style was seamless since you can make the seat go up and down, however high or low you need it, same with the foot rest. I just put the high chair attachment on my second chair for my 6 month old and she fits perfectly in it and has the 90 degree angle posture that you want to achieve for eating solids. We used it with the bouncer when she was an infant and would have her with us at the dinner table each night, at the same level as us, which was fun!

I bought the chairs in black since our dining chairs are black and the Lemo chairs blend so well with the rest of our chairs, they don’t stick out like sore thumbs like some baby high chairs would. I highly recommend the Lemo chair and the new stone blue color is very pretty!
