DIY boutonnieres are an easy thing to make for weddings. These dried flower boutonnieres add a beautiful touch to groom and groomsmen attire. These DIY boutonnieres have a boho, whimsical appearance.

Supplies
It helps to organize your supplies first and get everything separated and ready.
I chose to use air plants because they look like tiny pineapples. I originally wanted to use actual tiny pineapples but could not find them anywhere! Air plants work perfect and add a bit of tropical for a beach wedding.
These ammobium flowers are whimsical and look alive. They remind me of wild flowers.
I kept my wedding colors neutral with blues, greens, and purples. Lavender is the perfect added touch to a boutonniere, it smells great!
Steps For Making DIY Boutonnieres
- Pick out air plants for the amount of groomsmen (+ groom) that you have.
- Holding an air plant, add in 2-4 pieces of lavender and 2-3 clusters of ammobium flowers.
- Wrap the floral tape around the base to secure the air plant, lavender, and flowers together.
- Cut the lavender and flowers to be the same length of the air plant.
When wedding time comes, make sure you have enough pins to pin the boutonnieres on the groom and groomsmen’s shirts. All you need to do is stick the pin through the base of the boutonniere and then through the shirt.
My husband and his groomsmen didn’t have any experience with boutonnieres so they ended up putting them through their suspenders instead of shirts. This looks great as well and it protects the shirts from having pins stuck through them!

Since the flowers are dried out, these boutonnieres will last forever! You can keep them as keepsakes after the wedding. The air plants are alive but will dry out over time and look the same, just a little less green.
I made these boutonnieres about a month before our wedding. I also made my bouquet and all of my bridesmaid bouquets.
Since we had a destination wedding, I didn’t want to have to worry about a local florist and getting the right flowers and stressing over them being ready on time. Also, I wanted to save money!
Using fake or dried flowers and doing DIY boutonnieres and bouquets yourself can save you hundreds, even thousands of dollars.
Weddings can be expensive and saving money wherever you can is vital, especially if you’d rather take an awesome honeymoon or buy a house!
You can make them totally unique and get creative with these DIY boutonnieres. Incorporate your wedding colors, keep it neutral, or add in some other elements like seashells and starfish.
