What if I told you that you can make a purse out of almost anything? Well, my friend, I’m pretty convinced you can. When I saw these placemats, I immediately knew I wanted to make a purse out of them. Thus, the DIY placemat purse was crafted. I’ll probably only be making purses out of placemats from now on…
Line up the placemats together then fold the tops down and out. Flatten them to create a crease.
Sew the placemats together around the half circle border and sew a little piece of each flap down.
Sew the handles onto the purse, sewing one ring at a time and making sure they all are at the same height.
Place the seashells in a pattern you like then glue each down, one by one, and let dry.
Seriously, how freakin’ cute is this bag?! It’s sturdy too! I’ve been wearing it nonstop since I made it a week ago. I love how unique it is and how you wouldn’t guess that I made it out of placemats right off the bat. I think this placemat purse was a very successful DIY. Plus, it’s a lot cheaper than most purses.
